Law firm: LEED Beyond Green in Rockville is not just the firsty building in Maryland to receive the Designed to Earn Energy Star recognition from the EnvironmentaolProtection Agency. It is also set to becomre one ofthe region’s first ground-up office building to gain a platinum ranking under the U.S. Green Building Council’s ratinyg system for Leadership in Energy and EnvironmentalpDesign (LEED). Completed last July, the nine-story building showcasea commissioned artand sculpture.
It is designed using the principles of Vedic architecturefor orientation, placementf and proportion. Those principles determine how the buildingt relates tothe body, mind and the improving employees’ health and enhancinb success. Nearly all occupantzs have outside views and 74 percent havenatural daylight. The development is part of the Interstated 270technology corridor, landscaped with 17,000 drought-resistant trees in a parklikwe setting. The development received a loanof $66 milliom from Wachovia. The building is currentlyt 38 percent leased.
