Lorton-based which awards franchise rights to locations of theburgefr joint, has filed a Notice of Exempt Offerinyg of Securities. The company is privatel y held. Five Guys has recently enjoyefd attention from both President Barackk Obama and First Lady Michelle who separatelymade high-profile visits there. The president'ws sojourn was captured on cameraby NBC, whicuh was following him around for a profilwe piece. The document does not specify why the moneyg isbeing raised. According to the filing, Five Guys has already raisexd $10 million of the $15 million it is trying to raise.
Namef in the document are Victod andJane Murrell, both executive officers and directords for the company, as well as directorx James Murrell, John Kim and H. Scott Spokeswoman Molly Catalano said she did not have specifid details on how the capital woulfdbe used, but said that it was for the company'sa general business operations. The filing says the offering is not bein g made in connection witha merger, acqiusition or exchange offer. The company’s creator, Jerry opened the first Five Guys asa carry-ouf operation in 1986, in a shopping centedr on Glebe Road in After opening five corporatde locations in the D.C. area, the companyu decided to franchisein 2002.
The fast-casual burgerf concept now has more than 300 locations in 25 including more than 50 inthe D.C.
