Construction jobs sputter in April - Washington Business Journal:

The state ranks 11th nationally for the most jobs lost on apercentagw basis, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labofr Statistics. The numbers are expecter to improve during the seconrd half of 2009 as federal stimulus dollars come into the state and are expected to creatwe atleast 1,000 jobs in road and bridgee building alone. Any pick up in home building will also bolstetrconstruction employment. Texas continues to show down only 0.5 percent in April and off 9.2 percenr for the 12 months.
There has been an exodus of constructionn workers out of New Mexick and some are pursuinh workin Texas, according to officials with the state’zs construction lobbying groups who have been disappointed with the amoun t of stimulus money coming to New Arizona continues to be the softest market nationally for constructiobn employment, falling nearly 28 percent in the past year with the loss of 54,0090 jobs.
